In Memory of Jennifer Morrison

Posted on March 18, 2011

Dear Friends,

Our wonderful friend, Jennifer Morrison, passed away on Monday, March 14th, 2011 after a long struggle with breast cancer.

Many BC Liberals will remember Jenny from her days as Executive Director of Liberal Party of Canada in B.C. when the office was above the auto repair garage on Hornby Street.  Those were the days when, just after being elected to govern the country in 1993, the Party was running on a shoe string.  No one could make a shoe string seem so lavish.  Jenny loved to shop and she loved to shop at Costco; so at any meeting you went to there was always lots of Costco treats.

More important, meetings were also full of people.  Jenny had a big heart and drew people to her.  She was warm and welcoming, and whether it was motivating volunteers, keeping the ‘Golden Girls’ happy or  feeding ravenous Presidents at Presidents’ Council meetings on a shoestring budget, Jenny got the office working efficiently and, most importantly, she made it such an enjoyable place to be.

I know that when many of us think of that old Hornby Street office we cannot help but think of Jenny – of her huge smile, her warmth, and her enormous heart.

Jenny loved the Liberal Party.  She came to BC with her husband, Rick, from Ontario in 1994.  Jenny also ran the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario) office and was fondly known there as ‘General Jen’!

Jenny wanted to make a difference in the world.  She believed in Liberal values and thought she could make that difference by being involved in the Liberal Party.  Jenny was a force in life and make a difference, she did.

Not only is the Liberal Party of Canada stronger because of Jenny’s contribution but we are all richer for having known her.

In Jennifer’s memory, an Education Trust Fund has been established for her children, Drew, 11, and Amy, 7.

Please consider a contribution in Jennifer’s honour.  Donations are accepted at any branch of TD Canada Trust (Transit No. 96400, Account No. 6502042), or through PayPal ( to  A paper cheque can be made payable to ‘Pamela McDonald in Trust for Drew and Amy Morrison’ and mailed to 1038 Banbury Road, North Vancouver, BC V7G 1Y5.  Even a modest contribution would mean a great deal to Jenny.

Jenny’s announcement will be printed in the Vancouver Sun on March 18th and 19th.  You may also access it for up to 30 days at website.  This is a direct link to the Vancouver listings:
