Today, Liberal Party of Canada Leader Justin Trudeau launched his three-point plan to deliver real change for Canadians by creating jobs, growing the middle class, and helping those working hard to join it.
“Canadians are working harder and longer, but this economy is not working for them and incomes are not keeping up with the cost of living. After a decade of Stephen Harper, people not only want a different government, but they want – and deserve – a better government,” said Mr. Trudeau. “That’s why Liberals have assembled a strong team, and a strong plan, that will grow the economy, create jobs, and strengthen the middle class.”
The Liberal three-point plan will:
- Create jobs with the most significant infrastructure investment in Canadian history: nearly $60 billion in new funding over the next ten years. Our jobs plan is about doing for our kids and grandkids exactly what our parents and grandparents did for us: build a better country for hard-working Canadians.
- Grow the middle class by putting more money in peoples’ pockets. We will do this by raising taxes on the wealthiest one percent, and cutting taxes for middle class Canadians.
- Help those working hard to join the middle class, by investing in essential social infrastructure – including affordable housing and child care – as well as giving families more money to help with the high costs of raising their kids. Nine out of ten families will get more from our Canada Child Benefit, and it will lift 315,000 children out of poverty.
“We must always remember that economic growth is not just about prosperity – it’s about building a country that gives everyone a real and fair chance to succeed,” said Mr. Trudeau. “Harper wants us to believe that better isn’t possible, and Mulcair’s empty promises prove he’s more focused on politics than on people. Liberals know that better is always possible, and we’ll work hard, together, to build a better country for all Canadians.”
